In November 2019 I attended Ellen's Relax and Restore Week in Andalucia.

Like many overemployed relatively successful middle aged professionals I have generally filled my limited leisure time with high tempo competitive results-oriented activities that produce a load of happy hormones and a good dose of self affirmation..nothing wrong with that.

However, in H2 2019, I realised I needed to create a "fire break" in my busy life to take time to reflect and consider how best to deal with a complicated mix of professional and personal challenges.  My initial thought was to walk a Camino for a week but then I came across Ellen's course.I had to overcome the feeling that the week with Ellen would be self indulgent,  and I am so glad I did because it was  a cathartic experience for me to put aside my preconceptions and immerse myself in the truly wonderful environment created by Ellen.

About 12 years ago I practised Ashtanga yoga for a few weeks but knew nothing about yoga nidra, hatha, vinyasa, yin, etc. It is extraordinary how the mix of yoga styles and Ellen's coaching, and her amazing Reiki talent, helped me to change the way I think about my life.  I came back restored in my mind and feeling  loose and energetic in my physical body.

A word on the demographic: I was definitely  atypical.  If you look at our group photograph it won't take you long to spot me, however I felt not just welcomed, but embraced by the group and I never had to dwell on my age, gender,  race , or incipient baldness.

My advice: if you want to reset your holistic well being,  start here.

And one more thing: try the recommended digital detox. I couldn't manage total abstinence but restricting myself to 10 minutes BEFORE evening meditation was extraordinarily effective at calming the clutter in my mind.
